Interview: Tamannaah Bhatia wants to become Hrithik and Vicky’s bouncer, wants to earn a name like South in Bollywood

Tamannaah Bhatia has earned a lot of name in South films. In Bollywood, he has done films like ‘Chand Sa Roshan Chehra’ to ‘Himmatwala’ and ‘Humshakals’. It is interesting that Tamannaah, who started her career in Hindi films, is yet to have any success in Bollywood that she can boast of. Tamannaah Bhatia is now coming as ‘Babli Bouncer’ to show herself on the Hindi cinematic screen. The trailer of this film was released on Monday, which got a great response. In a special conversation with Navbharat Times, Tamannaah said that she not only has high hopes from this film, but she is also very excited for this different character. Tamannaah is in the role of a lady bouncer in the film. Directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, Tamannaah looks completely different from her characters till now. She herself also believes that Madhur Bhandarkar has relaunched her in a way with this film.

Madhur sir relaunched me in the film ‘Babli Bouncer’ and about her character Tamannaah says, ‘I have always been a huge fan of Madhur sir. But now my respect for him has increased even more. Madhur sir kind of relaunched me. Of course I have done a lot of films but never did a character like this, who is a Haryanvi Jat. This is very close to my heart because my sister-in-law is Haryanvi. I took inspiration from him for this character. The subject of this film is very funny and I think the last two-three years have been very difficult for the people of the whole world, every human being has gone through some kind of difficulty in the last two-three years. In such a situation, we have tried to make a film that leaves a smile on people’s faces.

Like the South, the people of North India will also adopt Tamannaah speaking Haryanvi boldly in the film, says about her preparation for the film, ‘Generally there is a lot of emphasis on the physicality of such characters, but here the kind of Babli. Character is there, people will connect more with him. However, for this, I did a lot of workouts initially, because I had to be strong inside. Usually we focus more on the beautiful side of how we look, but when you’re firing a bullet, carrying people on it, it really takes power. I had to bring that strength in myself, which was more difficult. Rest, till now I have done more work in Tamil-Telugu. Have done some Hindi films but doing Haryanvi character for the first time. Haryanvi people have a natural sense of humor and self-confidence, which is very endearing. I tried to adopt him. Well, to be honest, I am not even a South Indian, but the entire South Indian audience has given me so much love. Adopted as if I am his own. The only hope from this film is that the North Belt will also take me and make it my own.

‘Hrithik Roshan-Vicky Kaushal’s bouncer would like to be’ A funny question was also asked to Tamanna that if she gets a chance to become a bouncer of a celebrity, whose bouncer would she want to be? To this she said, ‘Well, there are many people whom I would like to be a bouncer. But you have already given me the wishlist, so Hrithik (Roshan) is someone I would like to be a bouncer for one day. Also, would like to become Vicky Kaushal’s bouncer one day. These are my favourites.’

The gap between OTT and theatre has faded: Madhur ‘Babli Bouncer’ is releasing on OTT platform Disney Plus Hotstar on 23rd September. The reason for bringing the film on OTT instead of theatre, was the challenge of attracting the audience to the theater in today’s environment? To this question, director Madhur Bhandarkar said, ‘No, it is not like that at all. Sometimes such phases come and go in the industry. It is not at all that the era of the film industry is bad, so we thought so. I thought this is the perfect film for OTT. Today OTT has a huge audience, the distance between theater and OTT has disappeared. Today, good content whether it is in theaters or on OTT, it attracts people.
